ROWING INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
Welcome to Lehigh Valley Community Rowing! We are so excited to bring this wonderful opportunity to get out on the water back to the Lehigh Valley.
Rowing is a true lifetime sport and is something you can learn to do at any time. We will have a range of skill and experience levels among the participants in this group– from folks who have never set foot in a boat, to those who participated in our summer learn to row program, even some with college rowing experience from years ago– the Lehigh University rowing coaches are experienced teaching at all levels.
A few FAQs before our first session:
What should I bring?
A positive attitude, patience, and a willingness to make mistakes and to learn from them. And a water bottle!
What should I wear?
A t-shirt, non-baggy shorts or pants (tights/leggings/spandex is ideal), running shoes or sandals to wear down to the dock, a jacket and/or hat on rainy days.
What should I expect?
Clinics are held at the Lehigh University Boathouse, located at Bucky Boyle Park in Allentown (10 Pump Place).
We will learn rowing basics together, including terminology, boat types, the rowing stroke/motion, roles/seats in the boat, and teamwork!
We row in all weather conditions. If the coaches deem it is unsafe to go out on the water due to a thunderstorm, water temperature, or current, we will practice indoors on ergs (rowing machines) in the boathouse.
Who should I reach out to with questions?
Coach Bob Michener at x03b22@lehigh.edu or
